Northernmost record to date of the Cerulean Dancer, Argia anceps

November 26, 2021
Species: Cerulean Dancer
Location: Queen Valley

Not discovered in Arizona until 2012 (http://azdragonfly.org/news/new-united-states-species-cerulean-dancer-argia-anceps-santa-cruz-co-az), the Cerulean Dancer has since then undergone a steady northward expansion. However, it had until now been found only in southern counties and not much north of Tucson. On 26 November 2021, a male was discovered in Queen Valley. This site is well north of those where the species had been seen so far and in fact represents the northernmost location where it has ever been recorded.
