New United States Species: Cerulean Dancer, Argia anceps, in Santa Cruz Co., AZ

Species: Cerulean Dancer

The Cerulean Dancer is a subtropical and tropical species whose northern distribution extends to southern Sonora, Mexico. The species had not been found in the USA until 2012, when a male was discovered in September along the stream at Sycamore Canyon, Santa Cruz, AZ - see photos below. This observation provides the first record of this dancer for the United States.
