The Mexican Forktail in Arizona had until now not been observed until 9 March (R. Bailowitz, pers. observation).

On 3 March 2012 2+ females, one of which ovipositing, were seen along the Jewel of the Creek Preserve stream in Maricopa Co., AZ, thereby providing a new early flight date for the state. Below is a picture of a female seen that day.
