First record of Tezpi Dancer, Argia tezpi, at the Salt River Recreation Area, Maricopa Co.
September 15, 2019
Species: Tezpi Dancer
Location: Salt River Recreation Area
The Tezpi Dancer was found for the first time in Maricopa Co. in 2010 (http://azdragonfly.org/news/tezpi-dancer-argia-tezpi-wild-horse-pass-maricopa) and has since then been recorded at two additional county locations: Box Bar and Papago Park. Perhaps surprisingly, the species had until now not been observed at the Salt River Recreation Area despite seemingly suitable habitat. Correcting this situation, a male, shown below, was discovered at Pebble Beach on 15 September 2019.
