Until now the latest calendar date that the American Rubyspot had been found in Arizona was 27 December (2016; see http://azdragonfly.org/news/american-rubyspot-hetaerina-americana-marico...). Extending the known flying period of the species, in addition to providing the first January record for the state, ten males, three of which shown below, were found on 1 January 2018 at Morgan City Wash. Note that one of these individuals is immature, suggesting recent emergence.
